I wrote the below words in 2019.. and it always amazes me how relevant they are right now, especially for myself as I navigate a new journey of showing up! Enjoy:

There is so much I want to say and share on showing up, that I’m not sure where to begin.. and when I feel like this, I know to come back to the present moment, to right here and now. That is what showing up is all about- its about being here, now. It’s about being so present in what is happening that you realise that that is all that is happening. It’s being all in. So, right now, as I take a deep breath in and become aware of my surroundings and my fingers typing, I choose to show up to this moment. Then, I choose to take that and apply it to my life.

But this isn’t about me, it’s about you. How can you show up to yourself and your life? What is showing up?

Showing up is being there, despite your circumstances. It’s about being there, despite the uncomfortable feelings and despite what is happening around you. It is about surrendering to the is-ness of each moment, bringing you to it. It is about accepting and surrendering to the way life is, instead of placing your focus and energy on how you think things should, could or would be. Things just are. Everything is exactly as it is supposed to be. This is the way it is.
Having this awareness- that everything just is- will set you free. This is where you show up. This is where you say yes to life, yes to what is in front of you, yes to bringing all of you to everything.

Now, don’t get mistaken my friends. This does not mean that everything is always going to be sunshine and rainbows. It’s actually the opposite. It’s about who you are. It’s about how you show up when there is no sunshine and no rainbows. It’s about being honest with yourself and others. It’s showing up to everything- to your emotions, the real ones. It’s leaning into sadness just as much as you lean into joy. It’s about showing up to your triggers and what is coming up for you. It’s about sitting with what is, whatever that is. It’s about feeling the fear, the resistance, the ego mind and choosing the opposite- choosing love, choosing what is in your best interest, what will serve your soul.

Let’s go through a bit of a process to get it simple:

1. Awareness- seeing all of your stuff, feeling what is coming up, watching your thoughts.
2. Acceptance- having no judgment to what is coming up, just allowing it all to be there without attaching to any of it.
3. Choice- making a conscious decision, choosing to show up and be all in.

You get to choose, every day, every moment, how you want your life to be. Don’t go down the easy road of the victim. It feels easy and it will definitely be a comfortable place, but distraction, guilt, excuses, blame, emptiness, laziness- they’re all leading you into a downward spiral, a stuck state. Choose the masterful path, choose to show up, however that looks like for you. Choose what feels right deep in your bones.

It’s showing up AS YOURSELF, not as someone you think others will approve of, not as who you think you should be, it’s about accepting you, as you are. It’s about allowing others to having opinions about you but to carry on anyway with your head held high because you are being true to you. It’s saying no, which in turn is saying yes to yourself. It’s being all in in what you do. It’s doing the things that bring you joy. It’s overriding your ego mind through the eyes of love. It’s just being there, despite everything. B e i n g a l l i n.

Today, just today, choose to show up. In all that you do, in all that you are.
Today I choose to show up.

I would LOVE to hear how you can show up more fully in your life. It’s such a rewarding practise.

Here’s to showing up,
